Stephen Smart (He/Him) is a lighting designer based in New York City. His design credits include work for UNC School of the Arts, Hilloween NC, and Fletcher Opera Institute. Stephen holds a BFA in Lighting Design and Technology from UNCSA, and in the summer of 2024 he was honored to work as a Hemsley Lighting Intern. Professionally, Stephen has assisted lighting designers such as Paul Miller, Penny Jacobus, and Marcella Barbeau. He has had the pleasure of working with theatre companies such as Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Berkshire Theatre Group, and Playmakers Repertory Company. When not in a theatre, Stephen can be found in the woods hiking or camping.
